On Saturday, I went to Petaluma with a friend in search of Cowgirl Creamery. Didn't find it, but we did pass by Lagunitas. I will definitely be trying to make a stop there soon.
On Sunday, I studied for hours and went to the movies. We watched Gangster Squad. Great movie, lots of shooting. Napa's fancy movie theatre has reclining chairs! So awesome. So hard to not fall asleep.
I also started Yoga this week. So far, I love it! I can't wait to go 3 times a week. I should probably start running too. Eating bread 3 times a day will probably catch up to me.
Monday
Monday was my first science lecture. A very entertaining man comes from UC Davis five times a semester to discuss the science of food. This week we learned about heat how heat transfers to food.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Not a whole lot going on in those classes. We discuss what we will be learning in the Teaching Kitchen on Thursday and Friday.
Thursday(Today)
We finally baked bread! It was great and completely nerve racking. We started the morning by watching demos on how to knead and hand mix. I hand mixed dough for quit a while. I learned how to "pull a window" to make sure the gluten in the bread has fully developed (very scientific). We loaded our bread into a 4 shelf bread oven. Of course, mine was loaded to the top shelf. There is very nice wooden bench for the shorties like me to stand on to unload the bread with a peel. Also, the slits on the bread isn't just for decoration, it's slit specific ways to allow the bread to rise properly.
