Design Class is Over

I had a wonderful time learning art concepts to apply to the desserts I make in the kitchen, but

this week kicked my butt!

Monday: Monday was sculpture day. We were given the assignment to create a sculpture from

cardboard and paper. We came up with the idea to make a man made from cake. We built him from

boxes and paper. He is even wearing Paige's shoes!

Back Row: Katheryn, Cody and Michael
Front Row: Lee, Paige and Myself

Tuesday: I wrote my final paper for Principles of Design. I compared Miette's Princess cake to a

painting by Paul Manes.

Wednesday and Thursday: I spent the entire two days working on the final project. The assignment

was to design a cake on paper for a client and to design the cake out of paper. We also had to make

an ingredient card to be placed next to the cake. I designed a cake based off Disney's Peter Pan.

The bottom tier is the scene of the children and Peter flying to Never Land. The middle tier is Never

Land Island, Captain Hook running from the crocodile and the mermaids sitting on rocks. The top tier

is the Lost Boys marching and Tinker Bell dusting the cake with Fairy dust.

I would have liked more time to make the
comment card look like an actual treasure map.
