Brew Day at CIA

On Sunday, Beer club brewed beer in the Viking Kitchen. Chef walked us through the process and then we chose which style of beer to make. I decided to make a Sierra Nevade Stout clone.

Mis en place for my beer, which means everything in place
Chef had 3 five gallon bathces of beer going at once. Boiling water in
the Viking Kitchen is so much faster than at home.

Boiling the malt.

Cooling the beer before adding to the fermenter.

Beer in the fermenter and drinking a Torpedo.
Have to add more water and yeast and the beer is ready to ferment.

Brewing beer was a great experience. The brewing process is very simple, but so easy to mess up.

I now know what Tim and Bobby are talking about. I even offfered to help Tim the next time he brews in Sacramento.
