It's Been Awhile: A Short Update With More To Come

I know. I know... I am not posting as much as I said I would, but I've been a busy girl: I joined the beer club. Our first meeting was a fermentation lecture. We also tried 5 beers: Trumer Pils, Green Flash, Lagunitas Sucks, Arrogant Bastard (Stone) and Big Bear Black Stout (Anderson Valley). I was slightly tipsy before dinner.

Beers for Fermentation Lecture

On Saturday February 2: the beer club traveled to Russian River. We attempted to try Pliny the Younger, which is only released once a year. After an hour of waiting, most of us went to the bar nearby. We drank, ate and played pool. Three of the guys were determined to get in. The guys got their beer after an eight hour wait. (Lucky Tim got to try this beer the same day, no wait at a festival in Hayward).

Tim visited the next day. He brought sushi and sake. We hung out, walked to town and went to the bakery.

The weekend of Feb 15th: we celebrated Andrea's birthday and beer week in San Francisco. We ate lunch at the SOMA Streat Food Park. Food trucks rotate every day in a parking lot. There are two stationary eating areas and a restroom. Lagunitas and 21 Amendment were selling beer. I'm excited to go back to the food trucks. The food was great and the venue had a fun atmosphere.

I also joined the Garden Club. My first outing to the Deer Park garden involved a tour and leek transplanting. Our leeks are growing nicely. The garden consists of mostly leeks right now.
